Mr. John Raphael Omes, Jr., 66, resident of Ridgecut Road in Early Branch, SC, husband of Angela Heape Omes, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in Yemassee.
John Raphael Omes Jr. was a loving and devoted husband, father, and papa. He shared a lifetime of love with his loving wife, Angela. He dearly loved his son John, his daughter Amber, his grandchildren Kylee and Olivia, and special nieces Kimberly and Allie. He enjoyed a career of 25 years at FN Manufacturing in Columbia, South Carolina. He will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman who was not afraid to slip into the Lowcountry swamps. He loved hunting, especially deer hunting. His knowledge of hunting was second to none. Everything that he did, he did with a sense of purpose and determination. He will be fondly remembered as a walking encyclopedia. His nose was always buried in a book, with a vast library of books to his credit. To listen to him talk on a subject that he was passionate about was a fond experience for those close to him. He was deeply devoted to his family and will be remembered as a source of strength and love. He was a man of few words, but those he did speak, he spoke with intent.
He was preceded in death in by his parents, John Omes and Patricia Shavers Omes Watson. He is survived by his wife, Angela Heape Omes, his son John Raphael Omes III (wife-Amber and daughter Olivia). Amber Omes Rounds (husband-Sean, daughters Kylee Freeman, MacKenzie Billiard, and son Collyn Rounds)
A Private Graveside Service, for family only, will be held in the Zahler Cemetery near Early Branch.
Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the Omes family during this time.
