Mr. John Edward “Bubba” Brown, 80, husband of Mabel Mixon Brown and resident of Hanna Street in Hampton, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026, at his residence.
Born November 21, 1945, at his family home in Hampton, Mr. Brown was the son of the late Clarence Jefferson “Shot” Brown and the late Rosey Herlene Barnes Brown. He worked as a contractor and painter. Mr. Brown was a hard worker who was great at his trade, having painted many houses throughout Hampton County and the lowcountry area. He loved country music, riding around, caring for his chickens, and talking to people. . . always being able to spark up a conversation with any person he came in contact with. Mr. Brown was an all around kind person who would help anyone in need. Above all, he deeply loved his family.
He was a former member of Sandy Run Baptist Church.
Surviving besides his wife, Mabel Louise Mixon Brown, of the home, are his daughters, Tammy Marie Brown Ginn (Kevin) of Nixville, Tina Louise Brown of Varnville, and Mary Elizabeth Brown Waters of Texas; his adored grandchildren, Ariel Mckalia Ginn, Melissa Kathleen Ginn, Dakoda Aaron Ginn, April Waters, and Tiffany Waters, and his beloved sister, Minnie Lee Brown Bolton of Hampton. There are also many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who survive.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was predeceased by two sisters, Lillie Mae Sauls and Maggie Herlene Davis.
Funeral Services will be 10 AM Thursday, July 9, 2026, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial following in the Sandy Run Cemetery near Hampton.
A visitation will be from 5 PM – 7 PM Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel, located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.
Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the Brown family during this time.
