Jill Rivers

SAVANNAH, GA:     Jillian Alma Rivers of Savannah, GA passed on February 14, 2024 at the Community Hospice McGraw Center on the Mayo Clinic Campus in Jacksonville, FL after a battle with MDS.  She was 64.

Jill was born August 27, 1959 in Walterboro, SC.  She grew up in Hampton, SC and graduated from Wade Hampton High School, class of 1977.  She was the daughter of the late M. Edward Rivers Jr. and M. Ruth Barnes Rivers.

Jill retired as a Kroger Store Manager two years after her diagnosis.  She had also worked for Barnes and Noble as a store manager for many years.  She loved the beach, shrimp and grits, the show "Shark Tank", the Georgia Bulldogs, the Florida Gators, and the Jacksonville Jags.  She loved dogs, especially Pugs, and had several in the past.

Jill is survived by two sisters, Jan Rivers Crago of Jacksonville and Sandra Rivers of Hampton.  She has one nephew Bobby Crago (Kelli) of Jacksonville, and a close beloved cousin, Edward Freeman of Rowesville.

Graveside services will be held Monday afternoon, February 19, 2024 at 2:00 at the Hampton Cemetery, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in her memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, P.O.B. 22324, New York, NY 10087 (givenow.lls.org).
