Jerry Cook

YEMASSEE :    Mr. Jerry Wayne Cook, of Pine Street in Yemassee, died Monday morning, November 29, 2021 in the Roper Hospice Cottage in Mount Pleasant.  He was 71.

Mr. Cook was born in Miley November 10, 1950 a son of the late Ed and Bernice Chassereau Cook.  He owned and operated Jerry's Used Cars, Garage and Wrecker Service in Yemassee.  Jerry was a Yemassee Town Councilman for twelve years, was a former Mayor of the town, and was a member of the Spirit of Life Ministries in Varnville.  While operating his garage in Yemassee, the Jasper Engine company awarded him for the most sales in the United States.

He is survived by two sons, Jay Cook of Sheldon, and Matt Cook (Christina) of Mount Pleasant.  He has three brothers:  Joey Cook (Renee) and Eddie Cook of Hampton, and Robert Cook (Barbara) of Beaufort.  Mr. Cook leaves behind four beloved grandchildren:  Dawson, Turner, Connor and Emelia Cook.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Suzanne Morgan Cook, by his brother Tommy Cook, and by his sisters Betty Murdaugh and Gloria Cook.

Services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 2:00 at the Spirit of Life Church, conducted by Rev. David Shaffer, and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 the day of the service at the church, located at 235 Chanel Drive in Varnville.
