J.B. Dobson

Mr. John Brantley "J.B." Dobson, 89 of Pine Street East in Varnville, died early Friday morning, August 20, 2021, at Hampton Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Dobson was born September 13, 1931 in Almeda, a son of the late John Brantley Dobson, Sr. and Ada Bell Davis Dobson.  He was retired from Westinghouse Micarta of Hampton and the South Carolina National Guard.  He was a member of the Railroad Sunday School Class of Varnville First Baptist Church and dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his sons, Michael Dobson and wife Susan of Orangeburg and Kenny Dobson and wife Tammy of Varnville; daughter, Brenda Brown of Varnville; brothers, Robert Dobson and wife Roma of Hampton, Herbert Lee Dobson and wife Annelle of Ashton; sister, Ellen Ayer and husband Jimmie of Hampton; grandchildren, Erin Way and husband Mitch of Lexington, Brian Dobson of Clemson and fiance' Katie Stogsdill of Greer, Dr. Jonathan Strickland of Varnville, Jeffrey Strickland of Hampton and Cassie Brown of Varnville.  Mr. Dobson was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Marian "Bunny" Dobson and son, Carroll Wayne Dobson.

Graveside services will be 11 AM Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Grimes Cemetery near Varnville conducted by Elder Robert Dobson and Apostle Herbert Brown.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Wednesday evening at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
