Jason Heintschel

Jason Michael Heintschel, 47, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.

Born on April 16, 1979, in Toledo, Ohio, Jason lived a life defined by love, loyalty, service, friendship, faith, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

Following high school, Jason proudly joined the United States Marine Corps, dedicating several years in service to his country and earning the rank of Corporal (E-4) before being honorably discharged. He carried the pride, discipline, loyalty, and brotherhood of being a Marine with him throughout his life.

After his military service, Jason pursued one of his greatest passions—golf. He graduated from Professional Golfers Career College (PGCC) in Bluffton, South Carolina, and went on to build a career doing what he loved. Over the years, he worked at various golf courses throughout the Hilton Head Island and Bluffton area. Most recently, he served as Store Manager and Master Fitter at Club Champion in Bluffton. Golf was much more than a career for Jason; it was a lifelong passion. If given the opportunity, he would have happily spent every day on the golf course—at least, as he would have joked, if his wife allowed it.

As much as Jason loved golf, nothing in this world compared to the love he had for his family. His family was his greatest accomplishment, his greatest joy, and the center of his life. He was an extraordinary husband and father who never missed an opportunity to spend time with the people he loved. Jason understood that life was meant to be lived, and he made it a priority to create memories with his family every chance he had. He was the glue that held his family together, and his presence had a way of making even ordinary days special.

Jason shared 14 years of life and love with his wife, Sloan Sauls Heintschel, including more than seven years of marriage. He was the most loving and devoted husband, a true partner and best friend. He loved his family fiercely and showed that love not only through words, but through the way he lived each day—putting them first, showing up for them, making them laugh, protecting them, and making sure they always knew how much they meant to him. The life Jason and Sloan built together was filled with love, laughter, family, friendship, adventures, and countless memories that will forever be treasured.

His children, Alexis Heintschel, Jay Heintschel, and Chesnee Heintschel, were his pride and joy. He loved them beyond measure and did everything in his power to make sure they always knew just how deeply they were loved. Being their father was one of the greatest honors and joys of his life. Jason was also a proud and loving grandfather to his grandson, Maveric, who brought another special kind of joy to his life.

Jason never met a stranger. With his kind heart, patience, easy smile, and genuine love for people, he had a way of making friends wherever he went. He was the kind of person who would do absolutely anything for someone he cared about. He got along with everyone, welcomed people into his life with ease, and truly had a heart of gold. To know Jason was to have a friend.

Jason was also a man of Christian faith who had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He attended Lowcountry Community Church in Bluffton and desired to grow closer in his walk with Jesus each day. His faith was an important part of who he was and, today, it is a source of tremendous comfort and peace for those who love him.

While his family grieves a loss that words could never adequately describe, they do not grieve without hope. They find peace in knowing that when Jason took his last breath here on earth, his next breath was in Heaven in the presence of his Lord and Savior. They hold tightly to the promise that this goodbye is not forever and look forward with faith to the day when they will see him again.

Jason was an avid Ohio State football fan and rarely, if ever, missed a game. Whether he was cheering on the Buckeyes, spending a day on the golf course, or simply being at home surrounded by his family, Jason embraced the people and things he loved wholeheartedly.

Jason is survived by his loving wife, Sloan Sauls Heintschel; his beloved children, Alexis Heintschel, Jay Heintschel, and Chesnee Heintschel; his grandson, Maveric; his father, Joseph Alan Heintschel, and stepmother, Mia; his brother, Jeffrey Heintschel, and his wife, Jaki; his sister, Erin Simmons, and her husband, Jason; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Perry and Audrey Sauls; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard and Cindy Black. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were made better simply by knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Lilly Tarver Heintschel.

Though 47 years was far too short, Jason filled those years with a lifetime of love and memories. He did not take life—or the people he loved—for granted. He loved deeply, laughed often, served proudly, gave generously, and lived fully. His family will forever carry with them the lessons he taught not only through his words, but through the way he lived: love your family fiercely, show up for the people you care about, make the memories while you can, and never waste an opportunity to enjoy the life you have been given.

Jason’s absence leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of those who loved him, but the love he gave so freely will remain with them always. His legacy lives on in his children and grandson, in his family, in the friendships he built, in the memories he created, and in every life he touched.

He was a proud Marine, a devoted father and grandfather, a loyal friend, a loving husband, and a man of faith.

He was deeply loved, he loved deeply in return, and because of the hope found in Jesus Christ, his family knows this is not goodbye forever. Until we meet again.

Funeral Services will be 12 noon Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Lowcountry Community Church located at 801 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, SC 29910; conducted by Pastors Jeff Andrews and Howard Black.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM prior to the services and last until the hour of the service in the church sanctuary.

Committal Services and burial with military honors will be at 3:30 PM Tuesday afternoon, September 15, 2026, at the Live Oak Cemetery located at 300 Live Oak Cemetery Road, Varnville, SC 29944.
