James Chisholm Wiggins

ESTILL DATELINE: Mr. James Chisholm Wiggins of Estill, SC, predeceased by his wife Linda Lea Hunt Wiggins, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's, Monday morning Feb. 28, 2022 at The Retreat @ Lady's Island Memory Care Facility in Beaufort, SC.

He was born in Savannah, GA Oct. 22, 1935 to Col. Edgar C. Wiggins, Sr. and Anne Chisholm Wiggins (both deceased) of Garnett, SC.

Having grown up spending his childhood summers on the May River in Bluffton, SC he graduated Estill High School in 1954 and then worked at the Corp. of Engineers in Savannah, Ga. Followed by attending 3 years at Clemson College (University) where he was a member of the Pershing Rifles Team and initiated into Company C 4th Regiment of the National Society of Pershing Rifles in 1956.

In 1961 he served in the Army National Guard. He later became President, Owner, Operator of Estill Furniture Company in 1969 until his retirement in 1997.

Known to his friends as Jimmy or Jim he was an avid golfer and fisherman. Known to his grands and great grands as Papa, he enjoyed teaching them how to fish, play golf, cast a shrimp net, build things and cut grass with him on the riding lawnmower.

He was an "I can fix THAT" kind of man, and believed that anything could be fixed with duct tape, pvc pipe and epoxy.

He had great love for his wife and family, he loved Robertville Baptist Church and the May River of Bluffton ran through his veins.

Mr. Wiggins was predeceased by his Siblings: Edgar C. Wiggins, Jr., Martha Wiggins Austin, and Jean Wiggins Taylor.

He is survived by his only daughter: Eleanor Wiggins Bostick; his Grandchildren: Joseph M. Bostick, IV and Mackenzie T. Bostick; Great-Grandchildren: Stephany Bostick, Xan Bostick, Maddox Noll, Hadley Noll, and bonus grands Kendall and Landon Bostick (Joe and Jody Bostick). As well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Thursday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Bobby Ethridge, with burial in the Black Swamp Cemetery in Garnett.

Visitation with be 1 P.M. Thursday prior to service at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Robertville Baptist Church Memorial Fund at P.O. Box 506 Estill, SC 29918, the Alzheimer's Association, or Scleroderma Foundation.
