Mr. James Thomas (Jim) Sanderlin, 86, of Helen Street in Hampton, died Thursday morning at his residence. He was married to the late Joy Walker Sanderlin.
Mr. Sanderlin was born December 23, 1932 in Cuthbert, Georgia, the son of James Thomas Sanderlin, Sr. and Vera Lawson Sanderlin. He was a graduate of Auburn University of which he was an avid sports fan. Mr. Sanderlin retired from Westinghouse Corporation as the Director of International Sales for Copperclad Division and was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church. He loved playing golf, and although unable to play in recent years, he had followed the sport closely.
He is survived by his daughter: Jill S. Jones and husband Greg of Hampton; sister: Carolyn Morrow of Chattanooga, TN; six grandchildren: Kelly Garrett and husband Doug of Hampton, Abby Herrington and husband Jake of Pooler, Georgia, Lindsay Brabham and husband Dylan of Hampton, Alex Jones of Hampton, Emily Sanderlin and Clay Sanderlin, both of Hartsville, SC; six great-grandchildren; two nieces: Leanne and Leslie Morrow; one nephew: Jim Morrow; and daughter-in-law: Anne Sanderlin of Hartsville, SC; He was predeceased by his wife and a son: James Sanderlin, III.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 PM in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Emerson Wiles with burial to follow in the Hampton Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Chapel in Hampton located at 300 Mulberry Street West from 1 PM Sunday until the hour of service.
