James Robbie Cook, Sr.

Mr. James Robbie Cook, Sr., of Bamberg Highway near Hampton, died Thursday evening in the Hampton Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Cook was born in Hampton County August 6, 1928, a son of the late Robbie and Pauline Cook.  He joined the Army and fought in the Korean Conflict.  Once getting out he found employment with Westinghouse Corporation as an inspector and worked there until his retirement in 1987.  He was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church where he had been an active deacon, Brotherhood Director and Training Union Director.  His true love was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are:  Sons:  Ricky Cook (Paula) of Early Branch, Chris Cook (Cathy) of Varnville, Andy Cook (Carlene) and Timmy Cook (Leslie) both of Hampton; Sisters:  Virginia Sauls of Walterboro, Ann Terry of Florida; Brother:  Martin Cook (Lorraine) of Augusta; Grandchildren:  Kimberly Sullivan (Jake), Brandon Marchyshyn, Tiffany Marchyshyn, Brandon Cook, Brittany Cook, Trish Malone, Casey Cook (Emily), Megan Davis (Daniel), Scottie Cook, Anthony Cook and Caroline Cook.  There are 16 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Cook was predeceased by: his wife: Lois Belger Cook; one brother: Olin B. "Buck" Cook; and a grandson: Jeremy Altman Cook.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 PM at Sandy Run Baptist Church with burial in the Crocketville Cemetery conducted by Rev. Paul Reid, Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly and Hospice Chaplain Bagwell.

Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5 to 7 PM at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
