Hubert Steve Pulaski, Sr., lifelong resident of Hampton, SC, passed away at Sprenger Health Care on the morning of February 20, 2026.
Steve was born September 21, 1950, at the home built by his grandfather in Hampton, SC to the late Hubert Martin Pulaski and Irma Crosby Pulaski Rentz.
Steve graduated Wade Hampton High School in 1969 and served 4 years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. After leaving the Navy, he attended and graduated from Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College. Steve was employed for many years at the Westinghouse Electric Corp and then transferred to Savannah River Site until his retirement in 2011. He was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church and was involved in several activities while growing up.
Steve was always outdoors and could be found anywhere from hunting, fishing, restoring old cars, carpentry and was involved with the American Pool Players Association (APA). If something needed fixing, he was the one to figure out how to get it done, utilizing his ingenuity and craftiness.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Joan Elaine Pulaski and brother Bobby Martin Pulaski.
Steve is survived by his son Hubert "Bert" Steve (Laura) Pulaski Jr. of Hampton SC., and granddaughter, Marley Hughes of Norfolk, VA. He is also survived by his sister Beverly Pulaski Schaffer (Danny), of Hampton SC., nephew Brian (Shanna) Schaffer of Lexington SC., niece Anissa Schaffer Sauls (Marty) of Ridgeland, SC and 3 great nieces; Macy Anne Sauls Roundtree (Matthew), Emma Sauls, Elizabeth Schaffer and 1 great nephew, Schaffer Sauls.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, February 27, 2026, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home with the eulogy presented by lifelong friend, Joseph "Little Joe" Buckner and remembrances by Matthew Kearse. Burial will follow in the Sandy Run Cemetery near Hampton.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM and last until the hour of the service at the funeral home located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.
The flag that is draped over his casket is the same flag that was on his father's casket in 1989 who also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Pall bearers include his uncle Hillard Crosby, cousins Glenn Crosby, Ronald Crosby; Allen Crosby and lifelong friends Bill Bailey and Scott Dickie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish send memorials to the Sandy Run Cemetery, P.O. Box 252, Hampton, SC 29924.
