Hoytt Lamarr Mock

Mr. Hoytt Lamarr Mock, 59, resident of Halls Mills Road near Hampton, husband of Rose Mock, died Monday evening, December 15, 2025, at his residence.

Born September 26, 1966, in the Hampton General Hospital, Mr. Mock was the son of Carrie Stanley Mock and the late Jesse Lamarr Mock. He was a 1984 graduate of Wade Hampton High School in Varnville who knew the value of a hard work ethic prompting him to work his entire life. Mr. Mock worked over 20 years in paint and body, notably for Bishop's Body Shop and later as a welder for Southern Metal Works. He was a man of few words but was gifted to be able to fix nearly anything, was an avid gardener, and loved to fish.

Mr. Mock showed his faith by action through giving and blessing others through his garden and work.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Marie Brunson Mock, of the home; his mother, Carrie Mock of Hampton; his sons, Dustin Mock of Hampton and Dylan Mock (Emma) of Varnville; two grandchildren who lovingly called him "Pops", Joanna Mock and Sawyer Mock; one brother, Jesse Mock of Varnville; one sister, Theresa Tuten (William) of Nixville; two sisters-in-law, Belinda Rentz (Greg) of Ehrhardt and Jackie DeLoach of Hampton, and two brother-in-law, Ritchie Brunson (Suzette) of Irmo and Johnny Brunson (Cindy) of Hampton. There is also a host of nieces and nephews who survive.

Mr. Mock was predeceased by his father, Jessie Lamarr Mock.

Funeral Services will be 11 AM Friday, December 19, 2025, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly. Burial will follow in the Sandy Run Cemetery near Hampton.

Visitation will be from 5 PM – 7 PM Thursday evening, December 18, 2025, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.
