Gloria Garland

Mrs. Gloria Ann Thomas Crowley Garland, 85, of Hampton, died Thursday, August 5, 2021, in the Orangeburg Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

Mrs. Garland was born July 12, 1936 in Hampton, a daughter of the late Hilton E. Thomas and Ann Manuel Thomas.  She was a Real Estate Broker and operated Crowley Real Estate Company in Hampton.  Mrs. Garland had been active with the Hampton County Historical Society, the Hampton Cemetery Association and loved antiques and all animals.  She was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church.  Mrs. Garland was predeceased by Harry Lee Crowley, Jr. U.S.A.F. Retired and the widow of Dr. Charles Mayo Garland, U.S. Navy Retired.

Surviving is her son, Gavin Lee Crowley and wife Megan of Portland, Oregon; daughter, Krista Crowley Sullivan and husband Glen of Branchville; brother, Jack Thomas and wife Molly of West Columbia; sisters, Janet Wright of La Follette, Tennessee and Bonnie Reuter and husband Bob of Easley;  grandchildren, Arran and Hannah Crowley and Jenna and Ryan Sullivan; and special aunts Rose Manuel and Ruth Thomas.

Graveside services will be 11 AM Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Hampton Cemetery conducted by Rev. Emerson Wiles.

Visitation will be Tuesday morning prior to the service from 9:30 AM until the hour of service at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.

The family would like to express their appreciation for those that cared for and loved her: Morgan and Sandy Kearse, Sylvia Priester, Pam Terry, Vernita Walker, Sandy Hosendove and Deloris Williams.  Also, the family is especially grateful for the love and care Gloria received from the staff at Magnolia Place - Memory Care / Longwood Plantation Nursing Facility in Orangeburg.
