Gettis Donald Smith, Jr.

EARLY BRANCH DATELINE:

Mr. Gettis Donald Smith, Jr. of Cat Branch Road, near the Early Branch Community in Jasper County, passed away early Thursday morning at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Smith was born October 23, 1972 in Hampton County, a son of Mrs. Mable Virginia Lightsey Smith and the late Gettis Donald Smith, Sr.  He was a heavy equipment operator with Waste Management Company and was a member of t Pine Level Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping is his spare time.

Surviving are: his mother of Early Branch; wife Kimberly Ann Smith of Early Branch; sons:  Derrick Smith and wife Fallon of Hampton, and Lance Earl Smith and wife Michaela of Hampton; daughter:  Brooklyn Mason and husband Joshua of Furman; and sisters Karen Virginia Sauls and husband Jake of Brunson, Connie Marie Smith and husband Glenn of Early Branch, and Cathy Lynn Harriott and husband Franklin of Varnville; and grandchildren:  JJ, Ethan, Sophie, Aden, Wyman, and Garrett, numbers of nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Pine Level Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Alan Cook, with burial in the Grimes Cemetery directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Saturday morning prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Level Church.

The family of Mr. Smith will be gathering at the home of his mother's located at 2728 Cat Branch Road prior to and following the services Saturday.
