George Priester

Mr. George Hiers Priester, 74, of Picadilly Drive in Cayce, SC, formerly of Hampton County, died Monday, April 12, 2021 in Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia.

Born October 31, 1946 in Hampton County, he was a son of the late George Washington Priester and Marilyn Hiers Priester.  Mr. Priester had worked with Food Service Supplies in Columbia until his retirement and had served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of Springdale Masonic Lodge # 412 and Jamil Shrine Club and was active with the Beach Combers.  He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church near Hampton.

Surviving is his son, Garrett Kenneth Hiers Priester of Columbia, SC; sisters, Patricia Lunceford and husband Billy of Evans, Georgia and Mary P. Graham of Martinez, Georgia;  and brothers, Jon K. "Jack" Priester and wife Joanna of Martin, SC and David Priester and wife Nancy of Beaufort, SC.  There are many nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Mr. Priester was predeceased by a son, Bradley Hiers Priester; and two brothers, Laurie W. Priester and W. Henry Priester.

Memorial services will be 2 PM Saturday in the Hickory Grove Cemetery conducted by Rev. R.P. Hodge and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.

Visitation will begin at 1 PM at Hickory Grove Baptist Church prior to the service at the cemetery.
