Franklin Delano Blackburn

Mr. Franklin Delano Blackburn, 87, of Mulberry Street in Hampton, died early Monday morning, February 10, 2020 in the Medical University Hospital in Charleston.

Mr. Blackburn was born February 2, 1933 in Belfry, Kentucky, a son of the late William Berl Blackburn and Dora Lee Ferrell Blackburn.  He had retired as a machinist with the Charleston Navy Shipyard, served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict and also had served in the Air Force Reserves.  He was a member of the Hampton Church of God and was married to the late Mae Hall Blackburn.

Surviving are his daughters:  Jan B. Johnson of Hampton and Renee B. Googe and husband Eugene of Summerville; sisters:  Cora Ann Crapse of Savannah and Minnie Jean Brueser of Hanahan; brother:  Bill "Berlie" Blackburn of Summerville; four grandchildren:  Derek Johnson, Alex B. Ingalsbe, Kevin and Cody Googe; and seven great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Blackburn was predeceased by his wife; his brother:  Emil Lester Blackburn and a sister:  Lois B. Tuten Benjamin.

Funeral services will be 11 am Friday in the Spirit of Life Church in Varnville conducted by Rev. David Schaffer with burial in the Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton and Friday morning at 10 am prior to services at the Church.
