Mrs. Frances Louise Sullivan Terry, 74, of Pond Town Road near Brunson, died Tuesday morning, July 27, 2021, at the home of her son, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Terry was born October 16, 1946 in Savannah, a daughter of the late Claude Ira Sullivan, Sr. and Sarah Harter Sullivan Bennett. She had been a cashier at several grocery stores in the community for many years and memorized the identification numbers of her many customers that were needed at that time. Frances had been very active in the community with youth sports, having coached girls basketball at Brunson Elementary for 17 years as well as the children and youth softball at Brunson and Varnville Baptist for 30 years. The teams always looked forward to her homemade lemonade and Kool-Aid. She had served as church pianist at several churches in the community, but especially loved playing at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She also attended many funeral services giving support to local families.
Surviving are her children: Joseph Francis Terry, Jr. "Bozo" of Brunson, Claude C. Terry and wife Lisa of Varnville, Deborah T. Hiers and husband Dobie of Hampton, Michael A. Terry, Sr. and significant other Melissa A. Altman of Hampton, Scottie Terry and wife Stephanie of Brunson and Christopher Terry, Sr. and wife Vicki of Varnville; brothers, Jimmy Lee Sullivan and wife Mary of Barnwell and Robbie Sullivan and wife Mary of North Carolina; grandchildren, Amber L. Crozier, Michael A. Terry, Jr., Brett E. Terry, Justin S. Terry, Austin L. Terry, MaryBeth Hiers, Trent C. Terry, Meghan A. Bridgers, Bryson A. Terry, Christopher L. Terry, Jr., Peyton S. Terry and Harper A. Terry; and great-grandchildren, Kollynns Crozier, Madelynn Crozier and Camryn Terry. Mrs. Terry was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joseph Francis Terry, Sr.; brothers, W.F. Sullivan, Errol Sullivan, Claude Ira Sullivan, Jr.; and a sister, Shirley Sullivan.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Open Arms Fellowship Church, conducted by Rev. R.P. Hodge and Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly with burial in the Rivers Cemetery near Brunson, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 PM at Open Arms Fellowship Church.
