Everett Strickland

Mr. Everett Strickland of McKenzie Trail in Furman died early Friday morning at the residence of his daughter in Varnville.

Mr. Strickland was born February 9, 1932 in Bluffton, Georgia, a son of the late Charles and Lorene Williams Strickland.  He had retired from Pineland Plantation as the Manager, was a Navy Veteran serving from 1956 to 1960, and was a member of the Furman United Methodist Church.  He was a member of the Stafford Masonic Lodge and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing.

Surviving are:  his wife:  Marie Blackburn Strickland of Furman;  daughters:  Cindy S. Fam and husband George of Awendaw, South Carolina, Alesia Burns and husband Gene of Summerville, and Vicki Jaskowiak and husband Gary of Varnville;  sons:  Lawrence Meyers and wife Kim of Ft. Worth, Texas and Philip Meyers and wife Amy of York, Pennsylvania.  There are 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Strickland was predeceased by a son:  Charles Aubrey Strickland.

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Monday in the Furman United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Dewey Shaffer with burial in the Stafford Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 pm at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
