Evelyn Tant

Mrs. Evelyn Lena Jarrell Tant, 77, of Turner Expressway in the Nixville community, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs. Tant was born November 14, 1943 in Hampton County, a daughter of the late James Wesley Jarrell and Gertrude Ginn Jarrell.  She was a homemaker, a devout Christian and always put her family and others before herself.  She loved fishing, camping and visiting with her friends in the community.  Mrs. Tant was a member of Nixville Baptist Church and will always be remembered for her love of God.

Surviving are her sons, Gene Patrick Tant and wife Peggy of Nixville, William Collis Tant and wife Missy of Estill and David Michael Tant of Nixville; daughter, Detra Z. Loadholt of Nixville; brothers, J.W. Jarrell and wife Carolyn of Nixville and John Jarrell and wife Gay of Nixville; sister, Mary Hadwin and husband Jerry of Hampton; grandchildren, Megan, Dylan, Cristen, Jon Cole, Ada, Brandon, Savanna, Josh, Journee, Lance and Jade; 4 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and two special friends, Julia and Elaine.  Besides her parents, Mrs. Tant was predeceased by her husband, Gene Calhoun Tant; brothers, David Jarrell and Danny Hue Jarrell; sister-in-law, Georgia Ann Jarrell; and a son-in-law, Coley Loadholt.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, August 2, 2021 at Nixville Baptist Church with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at the home of Mrs. Tant at 1923 Turner Expressway.
