Mr. Eugene "Gene" Gordon Cook, 57, resident of Sharon Avenue in Hampton, entered into eternal rest at his residence in Hampton on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
Born October 13, 1967, in Hampton County, Mr. Cook was the son of the late Benjamin Clarence Cook, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Hay Cook. He worked many years as an electrician and was a jack of all trades having various talents to do just about anything he set his mind to do. Mr. Cook was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and anything else involving the outside. He also enjoyed shooting pool and will be remembered by his family as a great cook. Most importantly, Mr. Cook will be remembered as beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He was a dedicated family man who enjoyed the holidays and spending time with his family every chance he could.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa Michelle Nettles Cook; his son, Axl (Kaylee) Cook; his stepchildren, Daniel Dobson and Megan Nix (Phillip), as well as five adored grandchildren. Mr. Cook is also survived by his sisters, Melinda Cook (Mark Nettles) and Brenda Belger, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will cherish his memory and the love he shared with them.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, Mary Hay Cook and Benjamin Cook, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Julia Maude Crews Cook and Benjamin Cook, Sr., and his siblings Mary Cook, Sandra Cook Goldenberg, Karen Cook Angulo (Enrique), and Benjamin Cook, III.
Funeral Services will be 3:30 PM Sunday, September 7, 2025, in the Hampton Church of God located at 1102 1st St. W., Hampton, SC 29924, conducted by Rev. David Richardson. Burial will follow in the Cook Hull Schaffer Cemetery on Old Salkehatchie Road, Early Branch, SC 29916.
A visitation will begin at 2 PM and last until the hour of the service in the church sanctuary.
Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the Cook family during this time.
