Elsie Davis Padgett

CAYCE :    Mrs. Elsie Brunson Davis Padgett, of Wadsworth Drive in Cayce, formerly of Hampton, died Thursday morning, January 13, 2022 in the Lexington Medical Center.

Mrs. Padgett was born September 27, 1946 in Brunson, a daughter of the late Gilbert Rawls Davis and Bessie Hickman Davis.  She had retired from the city of Columbia, and had worked in both the police department and the water department as a records clerk.  Mrs. Padgett enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, John Medicus Padgett III of Cayce, and by a daughter, Stacey Bernice Mullen (Bill) of West Columbia.  She leaves behind her grandchildren Allison and William Ryan Mullen of West Columbia, as well as her siblings:  Dimples D. Zipperer (Jack) of Murfreesboro, TN, Queenie D. Murdaugh (Franklin) of Hampton, and Daniel Davis of Allendale.

Mrs. Padgett was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Medicus Padgett Jr., by her brothers Lester, Vernon, Marshall, James and Wilbur Davis, and by her sisters Lucille D. Clark, Elizabeth Davis and Susan D. Weatherford.

Graveside services will be held Monday afternoon, January 24, 2022 at 1:00 in the Sandy Run Cemetery, 2100 Sandy Run Road in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Charles Moore.  The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.  Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, 300 Mulberry Street in Hampton, is in charge of arrangements.
