Ellen Harrison Trowell died April 4, 2019 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, S. C.

The Reverend Carol Holladay conducted a memorial service on Monday, April 8 at Bellinger Chapel United Methodist Church in Fairfax, S.C. Family received visitors prior to the service. The family was hosted afterwards by the congregational members of Bellinger Chapel and Brunson United Methodist Churches. Staff at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton assisted with arrangements.

"Ele", as she was known to family and friends, was born June 5, 1956 in Orangeburg, S.C. She grew up in Fairfax, attended public schools in Allendale County and graduated from Allendale-Fairfax High School. After graduation Ele was Miss Allendale County and a contestant in the Miss South Carolina pageant. She attended Salkehatchie campus of the University of South Carolina and Winthrop College where she majored in Communication and Drama.

She was a celebrator of the arts.  Her talents shown in dramatic and comedy performances as well as song and dance on stage in college and community theater. She is remembered for the leading role of "Lucy" in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."

Music was an important part of her life. She sang solos and duets with her twin sister, Ede.  In 1974 they were joined by older sister, Karen, and Arthur Smith studio musicians to record "I Got Rhythm" and "Downtown" on the LaRuHa label. Ele also performed in Nashville's Music City USA.

Ele worked in real estate sales and marketing at resorts in Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach. In 1987 she was Salesperson of the Year at the Yachtsman Resort in Myrtle Beach. She also worked in sales at the Finesterra resort in Cabo San Lucas.

Ele is survived by her mother, Barbara Harrison Johnson of Fairfax; niece, ZoE Henderson McCrary, husband Mac of Furman, and their children, MaryHarrison Ellen and Crew Maxwell, of Furman; sister, Karen Trowell Barron and husband Robert of Hilton Head; uncle, Donald Lee Harrison of Greenville, S.C.; great aunt, Sarah Harrison Corbin of Brunson, S.C.; and many wonderful cousins of the Trowell, Harrison, Dowling, Ford, Ware and Johnson families. Ele is predeceased by her twin sister, Edith "Ede" Harrison Trowell; father, Luke Trowell; step-father, Andrew Charles Johnson; maternal grandparents, Edith Dowling Harrison and John Gary Evans Harrison; paternal grandparents, Ellen Griner and William Benjamin Trowell.
