ESTILL: Mrs. Elizabeth "Miss Libby" Cook Logan, widow of the late Cecil Logan, passed away Sunday night, April 21, 2024, at the Hampton Regional Medical Center at the age of 91.
Mrs. Logan was born in Ridgeland February 28, 1933, a daughter of the late Mallie and Pearlie Ginn Cook. She and her late husband were the owners and operators of the Connelly Grocery Store in Estill for many years, and she was known throughout the community as the "Avon Lady" to many generations of women. She was a lifelong member of the Lawtonville Baptist Church and was proud to also be its oldest member. She was very active in the church in years past as a youth leader and Sunday School teacher and was instrumental in the establishment of the clothes closet outreach program. Mrs. Logan was a devoted wife and mother and one of her greatest joys was going on cruises with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter Catherine Logan, and by her dear "adopted daughter" Abbie Hanson (Chuck). In addition to her parents, Mrs. Logan was preceded in death by her brother Donald K. Cooke and his wife Mary Jo.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 at the Lawtonville Baptist Church, with burial following in the Lawtonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation Thursday evening, April 25, 2024, from 6:00 until 8:00 at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, 300 Mulberry Street in Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lawtonville Baptist church.
