Elizabeth Usher Laffitte

Mrs. Elizabeth Usher Laffitte died Saturday in the Hampton Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Laffitte was born in Salisbury, N.C., September 5, 1928, a daughter of the late Sterling Jinks Usher and Thelma Dicks Usher.  She attended Mary Baldwin College and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1949 and was May Queen in 1948.  Mrs. Laffitte was a member of the Lawtonville Baptist Church and a member of the Estill Book Club and the Friendship Book Club.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Ralph Montague Laffitte of Estill; Son:  Dr. Ralph Montague Laffitte, Jr. and wife Carol of Greenville; Daughter:  Elizabeth Laffitte Malinowski and husband Jan of Beaufort;  Daughter-in-law:  Linder Jackson Laffitte of Charleston;  Grandchildren:  Montague Laffitte, III and wife Lauren, Carolyn Bradley and husband Tripp, Othniel Laffitte and wife Kate, Richard, Ted and Libby Malinowski, Usher, Sydney and Mary Madison Laffitte;  and Great-Grandchildren:  Monty, McNeill and Bell Laffitte.  Mrs. Laffitte was predeceased by a son, Sterling Jinks Usher Laffitte.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers:  Carolyn Stokes, Jacky Mixon, Elnora Jones, Mamie Wilson, Tonya Smith, Maelynn Haynes, Ruby Taylor and Patricia Hightower.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the Lawtonville Cemetery in Estill directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.  The family will be at their home on 664 Baker Blvd. in Estill.
