Mrs. Edyce H. Gooding, resident of Aiken, SC passed away Monday morning, May 18, 2026, two days following her 94th birthday. Born May 16, 1932, in Furman, SC, she was the daughter of the late Eddie N. Hadwin and Glondel Buckner Hadwin.

Her early years were spent in Furman before moving to the family farm outside of town on Two Sisters Ferry Road. Her family attended Furman Baptist Church. At the age of twenty being recently widowed, she began working at United Insurance Company, Estill as a cashier. This job led to many changes and opportunities. She followed the office when it moved to Hampton and then transferred to Aiken.. She remained with the company in various capacities until forty plus years later when she retired as a national auditor based out of Chicago, Illinois.

During her retirement she loved attending Aiken First Baptist Church services and activities, Heart Fund plays, Monday night concerts at Hopelands Gardens, traveling and working with the flowers in her yard. Most of all she enjoyed spoiling her grandsons and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Jacob Gooding of Miley, her son in law Cliff Evensen of AIken, her brother Regie Hadwin of Hampton and most of her in-laws.

Her survivors include daughter Ernie Evensen, grandsons Kris and Josh Evensen all of Aiken, great-grandchildren Jacob Evensen of Aiken, Lauren Evensen and her fiancee Aren Chanti of Columbia, her sister in law Mabel Gooding of Charleston and Jacob's mother Renee Reynolds of Aiken, Also surviving are twelve nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service conducted by Elder Robert Dobson will be held 4PM, Saturday, May 23,2026, in the Stafford Cemetery located at 9501 Two Sisters Ferry Road, Furman, SC.

Visitation will begin at 3 PM prior to the service in the Stafford Baptist Church sanctuary lasting to the hour of service.

The family would also like to thank the teams at Trinity Hospice, AIken, SC and Comfort Keepers, North Augusta, SC. for their kindness and care during her last years.
