Edison Owens, Jr.

Mr. Edison "Bubba" Owens, Jr., 61, resident of Hidden Acres near Varnville, SC, passed away Wednesday evening, October 8, 2025, at his residence.

Born August 18, 1964, in the Hampton General Hospital in Varnville, Mr. Owens was the son of the late Edison Owens, Sr. and Barbara Ann Jarrell Owens. He was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School class of 1983 and worked many years as a talented painter, having owned and operated his own business, Owens Painting Company. Mr. Owens was a die-hard Carolina Gamecock fan who will be also remembered for his love of fishing and hunting. He was a talented artist who enjoyed painting with his grandchildren and will most importantly be remembered for his strong love for his family.

Mr. Owens was a member of Ashton Baptist Church.

Surviving is his companion, Nancy Hair; his children, Arizona Carson, Leah Tuten, David Carson (Mandy), and Mindy Carson-Miller (Johnny); his sisters, Robin Stanley (Deryl) and Emma Jarrell (Lanier), as well as eight adored grandchildren. There are also many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Owens was predeceased by his parents; his grandparents, William and Minnie Lee Varnadoe, and Tom and Dora Owens, as well as a beloved nephew, Phillip Ray Stanley.

Funeral Services will be 3 PM Saturday, October 11, 2025, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924, conducted by Rev. Danny Fogle. Burial will follow in the Sandy Run Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 2 PM and last until the hour of the service in the Chapel.
