Mrs. Dora Lee Heape DeLoach of Lowndes Lake Road in Cummings, formerly of Early Branch, died Thursday night at her residence.
Mrs. DeLoach was born April 21, 1927 in Hampton County, a daughter of the late William Vincent "Cap" Heape and Florrie Platts Heape. She was a Postal Clerk for many years with the Early Branch Post Office, was a graduate of Varnville High School and a member and Sunday School Teacher at Deep Branch Baptist Church. Mrs. DeLoach was the widow of Richard Haston DeLoach.
Surviving are: son: Lt. Col. (USAF Ret.) Richard C. DeLoach and wife Jane of Raleigh, North Carolina; daughter: Trudie D. Freeman of Varnville; sister: Madeline Peeples of Fairfax; and sister-in-law: Shirley Heape of Ellabell, Georgia; grandchildren: Jill F. Herring of Griffin, Georgia, Vincent Carl Freeman and wife Janice of Denver, North Carolina, Mark Haston DeLoach of Raleigh, North Carolina, Robin D. Koonce and husband Tommy of Carrboro, North Carolina, and Lauren D. Borders and husband Matt of Shelby, North Carolina; great-grandchildren; Steven and Ryan Herring of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Nicholas Freeman of Florence, South Carolina, Merrin and Woods Borders of Shelby, North Carolina, and Mary-Fitz Koonce of Carrboro, North Carolina; step mother-in-law: Betty D. Hadwin of Early Branch, South Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. DeLoach was predeceased by: her husband, Richard Haston DeLoach; brother: Earl V. Heape; and sister: Sarah Dempsey.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Deep Branch Baptist Church with burial in the Sand Hill Cemetery directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.
Visitation will be Saturday morning prior to services beginning at 9 AM at the Church.
