David Smith

Vincent David Smith entered the gates of heaven, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at his home with family and several friends near.  He had fought a hard battle against the cancer that ultimately took his life after only a few months.

David worked 46 years with South Carolina Forestry Commission as a Tech I, heavy equipment, and fire suppression operator.  He and his wife, Kathy also owned and managed a landscape installation design maintenance company.

David is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen (Kathy) Beard Smith and was blessed with two sons, David Scott of Varnville and Bryant Christian wife Lindsay of North Augusta, SC.   He was blessed with four grandchildren, Indy (Nathyn), Corey, Campbell, and Grayson and two great-grandchildren Warren and Colyn.  Family members include Roseann Jorda of Bluffton, Terrell (Margie) Smith of Varnville and Teresa (Rick) Brown.  He will be sorely missed by all.  David loved life and respected God's gifts and challenges, his last battle carried him home.

A memorial service, to celebrate his life, will be held, Monday, November 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at Sand Hill Baptist Church, Pocotaligo Road, Varnville, SC, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton.   Visitation will begin at 10:00 am prior to the service at the church.
