Daisy Breland

Mrs. Daisy Lee Chassereau Breland, 88, of Grays Highway near Varnville, died Monday night, March 15, 2021 at her residence.

Mrs. Breland was born November 2, 1932 in Grays, a daughter of the late Canie Chassereau and Tinnie Smith Chassereau.  She was a retired seamstress and had worked with several sewing rooms in the Lowcountry area.  She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society.  Mrs. Breland had also been active with the Senior Citizens Groups at  Hopewell and Nixville Baptist Churches.

Surviving are her sons Archie L. Breland, Jr. and wife Bobbie Rae and David W. Breland and wife Karen, both of Varnville; brothers, Rufus Chassereau of Estill and Eugene Chassereau of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Ruby Avant of Brunson and Maude Harvey of Hampton; and grandchildren, Bryan Breland and wife Ashley, Christopher A. Breland and wife Misti, Catherine Sheffield and husband Johnny and Rachael Fennell and husband Craig.  There are 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Breland was predeceased by her husband Archie Lee Breland, Sr.; brothers Oregon Smith, Hoyt Chassereau and Harold Chassereau; and a sister Edna C. Hull.

Graveside services will be 11 AM Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Mt. Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Heyward Evans and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Visitation will be immediately following the service at the cemetery.
