Clyde Edward Fennell

Mr. Clyde Edward Fennell, 73, resident of Luray Highway near Hampton, husband of Sonya Walsh Fennell, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, January 21, 2026, at the Hampton Regional Medical Center in Varnville.

Born December 11, 1952, in Hampton, SC, Mr. Fennell was the son of the late Charles William Fennell, Sr. and Aleane Edith Smith Fennell. He was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and was a veteran, having served in the Army National Guard. Additionally, Mr. Fennell worked for many years at Elliott Sawmill in Estill before his retirement. He enjoyed piddling around his house and spending time with his family.

Surviving besides his wife, Sonya, of the home, are his two sons, Clyde William Fennell and Brian Edward Fennell; his two grandchildren, Gabriel and Annaleigh Fennell; one brother, Charles W. Fennell of Hampton, and two sisters, Margaret F. Smith of Grays and Mary F. Ulmer of Hampton.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Fennell was predeceased by a brother, Billy Randolph Fennell.

Funeral Services will be 11 AM Thursday, January 29, 2026, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Asbury Lawton. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM and last until the hour of the service in the Chapel.
