Clifford Jessie Jones

Mr. Clifford Jessie Jones of Loundes Lake Road near Varnville, died Monday afternoon in the Pruitt Health Care Facility in Estill after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Jones was born in Washington County, Georgia, February 3, 1932, a son of the late James and Bessie Harrell Jones.  He was a Foreman with Turner Murphy Construction Company, and was a member of the Oak Chapel Baptist Church in Kite, Georgia.  He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed watching Nascar Racing and football, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family at their annual B.B.Q. get togethers.

Surviving are:  Son:  Keith Jones and wife Sue of North Augusta;  Daughters:  Kathy Benson and husband Dennis of North Augusta, Linda Freeman and husband Johnny of Cummings, and Mary Hughes and husband Bubba of Cummings;  Sister:  Virginia Greenway of Wrightsville, Georgia:  Grandchildren:  Cheryl Wasson, Brian Jones, Ronnie Freeman, Daniel Hughes and Gregory Jones;  Step-grandchildren:  Tammy Gaskins and John Freeman and 8 Great Grandchildren.  Mr. Jones was predeceased by children:  Ronnie and Donnie Jones, and a granddaughter, Angel Freeman.  He also, had an adopted daughter:  Patty Kollar.

There will be a gathering of family and friends Saturday, July 1st, from 12 to 2 PM in the Social Hall at Deep Branch Baptist Church near Cummings.  Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton is assisting the family with arrangements.
