Mr. Charles Emory Davis, Jr., husband of the late Frances Latrelle Davis, passed away Sunday evening, January 07, 2024 at the Hampton Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Davis was born August 19, 1939 the son of the late Charles Emory Davis, Sr. and Lucille Moore Davis. He graduated Estill High School and attended Van Moore School of Photography and Kodak School of Film. He was owner of Davis Swimming Pool and Skating Rink, Charles Davis Photography and Davis Farms. He was a film coach for Georgia Southern and had the only Kodak 16 mm film processing lab in lower South Carolina. In 1986 he worked for the National Football Scouting along with Georgia Southern Films. He was a Charter member of the Estill Jaycees and South Carolina Flying Farmers, Past President Estill Lions Club, member of the South Carolina Breakfast Club, and South Carolina Professional Photographers.
Charles loved flying and creating beautiful photographs. He also, enjoyed watching the children enjoy themselves at his pool and skating rink. He liked the smell of fresh plowed dirt and watching the crops grow on his farm with his wife, they did everything together.
Surviving are his son, Charles E. Davis, III and daughter, Frances Davis, along with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. There are several close friends and family: Cathy Mixon and family, Rick Jancha and children, JoAnn Greenway and Janet Ballard. He was predeceased by a brother Fred S. Davis.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday conducted by Rev. Brian Toney in the Lebanon Cemetery near Scotia, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.
