Chad Eugene Atwood

HAMPTON: Mr. Chad Eugene Atwood, of Lightsey Street Extension in Hampton, died early Friday morning in the Providence Hospital in Columbia.

Chad was born August 16, 1977 in Corning, New York, a son of Deborah Carson Westervelt and the late Phillip Eugene Atwood.  He was a Senior Fire Fighter and Fire Marshall for 5 years with the Ridgeland Fire Department , and also served as  a Captain with the Brunson Fire Department for 15 years.  Chad was a Marine Corp Veteran and had attended the Brunson Baptist Church.

Surviving are:  his wife:  Leslie Varner Atwood of Hampton; children:  Zachary Varner of Hampton and Victoria Atwood of Hampton; brothers: Eric Lee Atwood and Thomas John Atwood of Addison, New York; maternal grandmother:  Joyce Harrison of Campbell, New York; step mother:  Charity Atwood of Hammondsport, New York; step father: Harold Stark of Savona, New York; step brothers:  Daniel Pierce of Chemung, New York and Thomas Stark of Bath, New York; step sisters:  Maggie Kubisky of Monterey, New York and Jenna Stark of Savona, New York; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be 11 A. M. Tuesday in the Open Arms Fellowship Church located at 402 Hoover St., conducted by Rev. R. P. Hodge with burial in the Rivers Cemetery directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Church located on Highway 601 North of Hampton.
