Cathy Murdaugh Ginn

Mrs. Cathy Elizabeth Murdaugh Ginn, 72, wife of Everett Ginn and resident of Mill Pond Road in Varnville, SC, passed away Friday evening, August 7, 2026, in the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, SC, surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 14, 1953, in Hampton, SC, Mrs. Ginn was the daughter of the late Edward Stanton Murdaugh and the late Frances Jeanette Bowers Murdaugh. She was a homemaker who will be remembered for being spunky and for being a jokester. . . always making others laugh. Most importantly, Mrs. Ginn will be remembered for the love she had for her family.

Mrs. Ginn attended Spirit of Life Ministries in Varnville, SC.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Everett Whitney Ginn, of the home, are her daughters: Kimberly Smith, Crystal Gunter, and Joni Reed (David), all of Grays; her beloved dog and companion, Lulu; her sisters: Brenda Smith (Kimmey) of Summerville, Claire Murdaugh (Michael Berry) of Islandton, and Ellen Rhoden (Tommy) of Varnville, and her 8 grandchildren: Derrick Smith (Fallon), Brooklynn Mason (Joshua), Lance Smith (Michaela), Nicci Soto (Walker), Micah Gunter, Haley Gunter (John Thomas Hipp, III), Clayton Reed (Leah), and Landon Reed. There are also 11 adored great-grandchildren and extended family members who survive.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ginn was predeceased by her son, Nakia Edwards Smith, two sons-in-law: Don Smith and Brian Gunter, and a great-grandchild, Ashton Kelly Smith.

Funeral Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Spirit of Life Ministries located at 235 Chanel Drive, Varnville, SC 29944, conducted by Pastor David Schaffer. Burial will follow in the Grimes Cemetery near Grays, SC.

Visitation will be from 5 PM – 7 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel, located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.
