Cathy Forbes Bowers Pope, 68, of Hadwin Circle, Brunson, SC, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, after an extended illness, surrounded by her family. Born January 17, 1954, in Hampton, SC. She was the daughter of the late Bruce Rustin and Grace Brown Forbes.
Survivors include one daughter, Annette Bowers Griswold of Brunson; one son, Jeremy Lee Bowers (Debra Ann) of Hampton; three grandchildren: Justin T. Parker of Early Branch, Autumn Grace Griswold of Brunson, and Trenton Lee Bowers of Hampton; a special nephew and niece, William David Bridges, Jr. & Patricia Carleen Bowers Bridges; two brothers: Billy Lloyd Brown (Gloria) of Islandton and Morris David Forbes of Islandton and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and special nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Jimmy Lee Bowers and her second husband of 5 years, Thomas Everett Pope; three sisters: Lillian Brown Marr, Evelyn Brown Hay and Geneva Brown McCollough and two brothers: Bruce Rustin Forbes, Jr. and Floyd Mathis Brown; and a son-in-law: Kenneth W. Griswold.
Cathy married her sweetheart, Jimmy Lee Bowers, on August 7, 1971. Over the course of 42 years, they enjoyed vacationing with their family in the Great Smokey Mountains, hosting family gatherings, and everything Christmas. After Jimmy Lee's passing, Cathy married Thomas Everett Pope. They enjoyed crafting, playing gin rummy and watching westerns. Cathy was very talented and there was nothing she could not do including cooking, crafting, sewing and quilting.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday at the Nixville Church of God of Prophecy, conducted by Rev. Michael Frederickson, with burial in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 P.M. at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the The Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA).
