Catherine Ann Ginn Gooding

Mrs. Catherine Ann Ginn Gooding, 92, of Main Street in Varnville died Saturday evening at the Hampton Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Gooding was born March 10, 1926 in Hampton County, daughter of the late Edward Robert Ginn, Sr. and Irene Smith Ginn.  She was an avid seamstress and retired from B. C. Moores Department Store Fabric Department after 20 years.  Mrs. Gooding was excellent at cross-stitch and created many heirlooms for her family.  She loved sewing for her children and grandchildren  and especially enjoyed making matching watermelon outfits year after year.  Mrs. Gooding always looked forward to having her entire family over for Sunday dinners.  Every Easter the family looked forward to her famous homemade Easter egg cookies.  She was a member of the Varnville Christian Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years.

Surviving are: daughters:  Margaret G. Miley and husband Robert of Brunson, Ann G. Dean and husband Allen of Varnville;  brother:  James Smith Ginn and wife Sybil of Anderson;  daughter-in-law:  Faye Gooding of Varnville;  grandchildren:  Gina Miley Altman "Keith", Jodi Miley Stamp "Scott", Jennifer Miley Pitman "Spike", Melanie Miley Dietterick, Nicole G. Bennett "Hal", Sommer G. Shultzman "Micah", Justin Daniel Gooding "Rebecca", Jeremy Allen Dean "Jennifer", and Catherine D. Grill "Jake".  There are 17 great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Gooding was predeceased by her husband: Rudolph Gooding; a son:  Dan Gooding; brothers:  Daniel Baker Ginn, Edward Robert "Ebbie" Ginn, Jr., and William "Bill" Ginn; and sister: Mary Gene Biggers.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday in the Varnville Christian Church conducted by Rev. Mike Freeman with burial in the Varnville Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
