Mrs. Carolyn Amelia Platts Beach Stevens, 88, resident of 3rd Street in Hampton, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 17, 2026, at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Stevens was born December 13, 1937, in Allendale County, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Ellison Marion (Buster) Platts and the late Vivian Rhunette Proveaux Platts Bowers. She worked as a seamstress.
Mrs. Stevens was of the Baptist faith and attended West End Baptist Church.
Mrs. Stevens is survived by beloved daughter Ethel Rudy Beach Ward of Brunson. Grandsons: Toby Beach (Heather), Jason Ward, and Dean and Scott Griffin; granddaughter, Christina Lynn Griffin Martinez of Elberton, Georgia; a host of great-grandchildren; sister Patsy Lake of Summerville and brother Buddy Bowers (the late Rhonda) of Estill; several nieces, and nephews; step brother-in-law Lincoln Bagwell and step sister-in-law Julia Ann Bowers.
Mrs. Stevens was predeceased by her husbands Wallace W. Beach and Joe Stevens; father, Ellison Marion (Buster) Platts; mother, Vivian Rhunette Proveaux Platts Bowers, beloved daughter Carolyn "Sue" Beach Griffin Prado; grandson, David Lewis Griffin, sisters: Marion Waters (Terrell), Elizabeth Mosley (Tom), Judy Diane Platts and brother, Ben Platts (Lucille), and step-father, Vaney Bowers. Step-brothers: Ralph (Annie Jane) Bowers, George (Brigitte) Bowers and Mack (Markie) Bowers; step-sisters, Verlean Deloach (Herbert), and Mattie Lee Bagwell.
Graveside Services will be 10 AM Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in the Hampton Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Joseph Williams.
The family requests memorials be made in Mrs. Steven's memory to West End Baptist Church, 1049 Elm Street West, Hampton, South Carolina, 29924
