Brandon James Brunson

Brandon James Brunson, 30, of Coffee Corner in Furman, SC, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, entered his heavenly home on Wednesday evening, September 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born December 14, 1994, in Walterboro, SC, Brandon was the cherished son of James "Jay" Brunson and Amanda McCormick Brunson. A proud graduate of Wade Hampton High School (Class of 2013), he worked many jobs throughout his life, but his greatest and most treasured calling was being "Daddy" to his two precious girls, Ella Ruth and Madeline Jane.

Brandon shared a beautiful love story with his wife, Laura. Their marriage was a true partnership, built on faith, laughter, and devotion. Laura stood faithfully by his side through every season of life, and especially throughout his illness. Their love was a testimony of God's design for marriage—selfless, joyful, and enduring.

Above all, Brandon's life was centered on his faith. He was an active member of Open Arms Fellowship in Hampton, where he joyfully served in the sports ministry and found fellowship in Bible studies and home groups. He loved to worship God every Sunday—whether he felt well or not—and his commitment to praising the Lord was an inspiration to all who worshiped alongside him. Even in the most difficult moments, Brandon's faith never wavered. Through heartfelt posts and conversations, he proclaimed God's goodness and trusted Him without fail.

Brandon was happiest when outdoors—working in his yard, riding around on his golf cart, or soaking in the beauty of God's creation. He loved both the beach and the mountains, always eager for an adventure and willing to go anywhere. A lifelong athlete and sports fan, he played softball and was a passionate supporter of South Carolina Gamecocks sports.

Those who knew Brandon will always remember his playful spirit, quick wit, and contagious laugh. He had a gift for bringing joy wherever he went, and even in his final days, his humor never faded. His smile, full of love and light, will forever be remembered by those blessed to know him.

Brandon is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Cooper Brunson; his two adored daughters, Ella Ruth and Madeline Jane; his parents, Jay and Amanda Brunson; his brother, Cal (Lindsey) Brunson; his sister, Hannah Brunson; his grandparents, James Brunson, Robin Still, Don (Paula) McCormick; and his great-grandmother, Marjie McCormick. He will be deeply missed by his in-laws, Mark and Mary Cooper, and brother-in-law, Daniel (Lindsey) Cooper. There are also his beloved nieces and nephews: Ivy, Brady, Cadence, and Sullivan, as well as his godchildren, Ellington and Miller. Brandon has a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruthie Brunson, whom he lovingly referred to as "Ninnie."

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Open Arms Fellowship in Hampton, SC, (402 Hoover St N) with burial following at Steep Bottom Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM in the church sanctuary prior to the service.

Pallbearers will include Cal Brunson, Calin "Bug" Brunson, Rylin Brunson, Lance Brunson, Austin McCormick, Dillon Gaskins, Junior Gaskins, and Scott Brunson.

The family is being lovingly served by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Brandon's legacy of faith, laughter, and love will live on in all who were touched by his life.
