Mrs. Betty Marie Hadwin Rush, 71, resident of Henderson Road near Varnville, died Sunday, February 16, 2025, at her residence.
Born January 5, 1954, in Hampton County, Mrs. Rush was the daughter of the late Ray Marvin Hadwin and Velma Louise King Hadwin but was raised by her grandparents, the late Maude and Vonlee Hadwin. She was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and notably worked many years in quality control for various manufacturing companies. Most importantly, Mrs. Rush was a homemaker who will be remembered for the love she had for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She adored and cared for her children; her grandchildren, who affectionally called her Momaia, and most recently her great-grandchildren, who called her Mia.
Mrs. Rush was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children: Karen Walsh (Jamie), Timothy Kinard, Monty Kinard; her 7 grandchildren: Brittney Kinard, TJ Kinard, Karlie Kinard, Connor Walsh, Cheyenne Kinard, MT Kinard, and Meghan Rogers; her 6 great-grandchildren: Cayden Ellis, Cayson Ellis, Graycen Kinard, Cayla Ellis, Chloe Ellis, and Calib Ellis; her sisters: Doris Duffy (John), Miriam Gibson (Dennis), Rindy Brunson, Donna Blocker (Eddie), Salina Hawkins (Steve); her sister-in-law: Kathy Phillips; her brothers: Larry Hadwin (Shelia), Gene Prevatt (Sandy), Marvin Hadwin, and Michael Hadwin. There are also a host of nieces and nephews who survive.
Mrs. Rush was predeceased by her husband, Dan Rush; her parents: Maude & Vonlee Hadwin, and Ray & Velma Hadwin; a sister, Margie Gainey, and two brothers, Robert Hadwin and Johnny Hadwin.
Memorial Services will be 11:30 AM Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the fellowship hall of Sand Hill Baptist Church conducted by Mr. Charles Heape.
A visitation will begin at 10:30 AM and last until the hour of service.
Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the family during this time.
