Betty Bailey Polk

Mrs. Betty Jane Bailey Polk of Cain Street in Hampton, SC, passed away Wednesday morning July 31, 2024, after an extended illness.  Mrs. Polk was the widow of the late Lossie Polk.

Mrs. Polk was born in Colleton County, July 13, 1932, a daughter of the late Henry S. Bailey and Mildred Dopson Bailey. Mrs. Polk retired at the age of 80 from Nix Florist.  After retiring, she spent her time with family, and she was known for being an excellent cook.  She loved preparing food for all occasions for her family and friends.  Betty catered and decorated for many weddings and social events.  She was a member Sandy Run Baptist Church where she served in many capacities.  She was a woman of great faith who loved the Lord, her family, church family and friends.

Mrs. Polk is survived by her daughters:  Janice West and husband Mike of Hampton and Joye Jones and husband Keith of Charleston; grandchildren:  Chad and Jody Holstein of Hampton, Michelle and I.B. Parnell of Thomson, Georgia, Mary Jane and Alex Bartosch of Long Beach, California and Jeffrey Wolff of Long Beach, California; great-grandchildren:  Rumer Holstein, Eve, Abi and Lizzie Parnell, Brooks and Carla Priester; great-great grandchildren:  Jake Bloom Rysha and Jaina Priester.  There are a number of nieces, nephews, a sister:  Shirley Bailey Tuten and a sister-in-law: Juanita Polk.  Mrs. Polk was predeceased by her husband Lossie Polk, her son Jeffrey Bailey Polk, a brother James Bailey and sisters Virginia Tuten and Sarah Lambeth.

Services will be held at 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 04, 2024, in Sandy Run Baptist Church with burial in the Adnah United Methodist Church Cemetery near Islandton.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Saturday, August 03, 2024, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West, Hampton, South Carolina.
