Mrs. Betty Barnes Freeman, 88, of Hampton, died November 27, 2019 in the Methodist Oaks Nursing Home in Orangeburg.
Mrs. Freeman was born April 28, 1931 in Hampton, daughter of the late James Samuel Barnes and Ebie Chesser Barnes. She was the widow of Henry Edward Freeman, Sr. Mrs. Freeman was a graduate of Hampton High School and was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church. She loved flowers, arts and crafts, and worked in a florist for many years.
Surviving are son: Rev. James Ellis Dobson, Jr. of Columbia; son: H. Edward Freeman, Jr. and wife Claire of Rowesville; grandchildren : Mason Freeman of Raleigh, NC, Anna Claire Freeman Butler of Greer; and one great-grandson; sisters: Ruth Rivers of Walterboro, Marie Crider of Cope, and Kate Cook of Clinton. There are many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Ezzie Williams and sisters Annie Jarrell and Addie Mae Gooding, all of Hampton.
Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Saturday, at Sandy Run Baptist Church and burial will be at Johnson - St. Paul Cemetery in Hampton conducted by the Rev. Paul Reid and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton. Visitation will be in the sanctuary of Sandy Run Baptist Church at 1:30 prior to the service.
