Bessie Peeples Cope

Mrs. Bessie Peeples Cope, 88, of Holly Street in Hampton, died early Saturday morning, April 14th,  in the Hampton Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Cope was born in Hampton County, March 13, 1930, a daughter of the late Peter Peeples and Minnie P. Bell.  She had retired as Probate Judge of Hampton County in 1994 and was a member of the Hampton First Baptist Church where she had been active with the WMU.

Surviving are:  Her husband:  J. Lee Cope, Sr. of Hampton; Son:  Johnny Lee Cope, Jr. and wife Debra of Varnville;  Daughter:  Janice C. Warren and husband Don of Hampton;  Sister:  JoAnn B. Williams of Varnville; Grandchildren:  Drew and Brian DeLoach and Alan and Rachel Cope.  She was predeceased by two brothers:  Eddie Peeples and Marvin Bell.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton with burial in the Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday morning beginning at 10:00 am prior to services at the Chapel in Hampton.
