Barbara Morrison Vaughan

Mrs. Barbara Morrison Vaughan, 87 of West Columbia, SC died Tuesday morning at Lexington Medical Center following a short illness.

Mrs. Vaughan was born in Savannah, Georgia on December 9, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Harry S. Morrison and Ruby Satterfield Morrison.  She  lived most of her life in Estill and Hampton, SC where she worked for Westinghouse Corporation. She was a member of Estill United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and MYF youth leader.  She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Arthur Vaughan, her brother and sister-in-law Harry S. Morrison Jr. and Beverly Dean Morrison and a daughter, Amanda McFarland.

Survivors include her son, Robert  Morrison McAlister and his wife Criss of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren, Robert Morrison McAlister, Jr. and his wife Leigh of Atlanta, Ga.; Richard Walton McAlister and his fiancé Rebecca of Lexington, SC; Rustin Harry McAlister of Austin, Tx.; Peyton Carlton McFarland III of Wilmington, NC and Margaret Amanda(Meg) McFarland of Charlotte, NC. along with four very special nieces and nephews. She was known for her sense of humor, her kindness and generosity to people and her special love for animals.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25 at 11 am at the Estill United Methodist Church conducted by the Reverend William Childs and Reverend Dewey Schaffer. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service.
