Barbara "Sally" Herndon Chassereau

Ms. Barbara Jean Herndon Chassereau, affectionately known as "Sally", 80, resident of Kingston Ridge Drive in Columbia, SC, passed away Monday evening, June 30, 2025, at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Downtown.

Born April 15, 1945, in Hampton County, Ms. Chassereau was the daughter of the late Cranel Berry Herndon and Margie Barnes Herndon. She was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School, attended Palmer College, and worked many years in accounting; retiring from Builders Hardware of South Carolina. Ms. Chassereau enjoyed gardening and sightseeing but mostly enjoyed being around the ones she loved...her family.

She was a member of Gantt Street Baptist Church in Cayce, SC and in her younger years attended Hampton First Christian Church.

Surviving are her sons, Bryan Chassereau (Angie) and Clint Chassereau (Suzanne) all of Columbia; her adored granddaughters, Hannah Chassereau of Aiken and Avery Chassereau of Columbia, and one sister, Margie "Libby" Herndon Smith of Fairfax.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Chassereau is predeceased by her daughter, Shannon Chassereau, her brother, C. Hayne Herndon and a sister, Madera Pritchard.

Funeral Services will be 2 PM Monday, July 7, 2025, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery.

A visitation will be from 4 PM – 6 PM Sunday afternoon, July 6, 2025, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.
