Austin Mathew Yawn

Austin Mathew Yawn passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2023, at age 29. Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Caroline, daughter, Ellie, and son (due January 2024) parents, James and Sandra Yawn, big sister Jessica Keown (Jay, Emma, and Colton), big brother Tyler Altman (Wanda, Logan, and Brianna), little sister Laura Meda (Michael and Owen), and little brother Colby Yawn (Madison), and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Austin is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He loved his wife so much and was the proudest bonus dad to Ellie.

Austin and his family dog, Sam, were two peas in a pod. Austin and Caroline recently found out they were going to be proud parents to a sweet baby boy carrying on the Yawn name.

Austin loved life and wore his heart on his sleeve. One of his favorite hobbies was cooking new things. He was the sibling that would never just smile to take a picture; it always turned into a thirty-minute ordeal because of his goofy nature. When he hugged you, he hugged you. It hurt, but you never wanted to let go. He was the giant, soft teddy bear of the family. We know he loved all of his family and friends. Every time he called home, he always wanted to make sure we knew how much he loved us.

Austin graduated from Great Bridge High School in 2013 and enlisted in the Army in 2017. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2020 and served as a combat medic. He met his wife while stationed in Hawaii and then was stationed in Fort Bragg where he completed his first deployment.
