Austin Phillip Hatcher

Mr. Austin Phillip Hatcher passed away Monday February 12, 2024 at his daughter's home in Hampton.

Mr. Hatcher was born June 18, 1941 in Frederick, Maryland a son of the late John Philip Hatcher and Anna Matilda Fouch.  He was married to his wife, Rachel Virginia Jarrell Hatcher, for 49 years   before her passing in 2016.  He was a member of Nixville Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School with his Sweetheart Rachael, member of the choir, Sunday School Director and worship leader for many years.  He was ordained a deacon in 1969 and later became a Deacon Emeritus.  He served in the U. S. Air Force,  he loved God, his country, and always flew and wore his American Flag.

He loved God First, His Sweet Heart Rachael, his children, family and friends.  He loved Coca-Cola, driving his eighteen wheeler,  old westerns, and loved to sing.  He said he couldn't wait to get to Heaven to sing in the choir with Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and Elvis Presley.

Survived by children, Penelope "Penny"  Melissa Hatcher Moore (James), Catherine "Cathy" Elizabeth Hatcher Hayles (Michael) and Phillip "Phil" Hamilton Hatcher (Faith); grandchildren, Andrew Lace Moore, Nicholas Austin Moore (Fiance', Lynzie Ball), Michael George Hayles, Jr., Gabriel Phillip Hatcher, and Lance Murphy Hatcher; brothers, Jerry Allan Hatcher, David Richard Hatcher and sister, Bonnie Lois Hatcher Owen.  He was predeceased by an infant sister, Connie Ann Hatcher.

He leaves behind extended family members he considered his "Adopted Children" Alan, Nicole, Jonathan, Amber, Justin, and many more that held close to his heart.   There is a host of nieces and nephews.

He loved everybody and everybody loved him.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 17th at the Nixville Baptist Church, with burial in the Nixville Cemetery.    Visitation will be Friday from  6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral  Home in Hampton, located at 300 Mulberry Street West.
