Mrs. Annie Liza Padgett Wooten, 86, of Burnell Road near Estill, died Friday at the Medical University Hospital in Charleston.
Mrs. Wooten was born July 1, 1932 in Hampton County, a daughter of the late Mack and Annie Bennett Padgett. She had retired from Best Manufacturing Company in Estill as a seamstress, and also took care of many children in the community at her home. She enjoyed working in her yard and especially taking care of her flowers. Mrs. Wooten was a member of Nixville Baptist Church where she was formally a G.A. Leader and Sunday School Teacher. She was the widow of Joseph Earl Wooten, Sr.
Surviving are: her son: Joseph Earl Wooten, Jr. and wife Phyllis of Varnville; daughters: Jane Youmans and husband Roy of Hampton, Ellen Brinson and husband Doug of Walterboro, and Georgia Ann DeLoach and husband Steve of Varnville; sister: Hazel Ginn of Estill; and brother: Dan Padgett of Islandton. There are 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great-grandchildren and also a special caregiver and friend, Brenda Gohagen.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday in the Nixville Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Sunday beginning at 2:00 PM at the church prior to services.
The family suggests that those who wish may send memorials to the Nixville Baptist Church Youth and Children's Programs, 3915 Two Sisters Ferry Road, Estill, SC 29918.
