Annette Griner

Mrs. Annette Jarrell Griner , 80, of Griner Lane near Varnville, died Friday evening, September 18, 2020 in the Roper Hospice Cottage Facility in Mt. Pleasant.

Mrs. Griner was born March 14, 1940 in Varnville, a daughter of the late Ervin Terry Jarrell and Mary Eva Mock Jarrell.  She had retired from Best Manufacturing Company in Estill as a seamstress and was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church near Varnville.  Mrs. Griner enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.  She was the widow of Joseph Phillip "J.P." Griner.

Surviving are her daughters:  Judy Sweat of Honolulu, Hawaii, Peggy Tuten "Gerald" of Ridgeland and Tammy Donathan "Scott" of Nixville; sisters:  Louise McAlhaney of Varnville, Laverne Bishop of Hampton, Evelyn Griner of Varnville and Linda Crapse of Estill; brothers:  Oliver Jarrell of Estill and David "Casey" Jarrell of Varnville; grandchildren:  John Keith Stewart Sweat "Stacey", Jennifer Kurylowicz "Chris", Elizabeth Sutton "Steven", Shannon Keith "Josh", Ashley Tuten, Derrick Donathan "Courtney", and Jon Donathan, Jr. "Christina"; great-grandchildren:  Kayla Kurylowicz, Joseph, Elizabeth, Lilly, Caleb and Sophia Keith, Ariel, Averi, Stephany, Kaley, Layla and Alyssa Donathan; step-great-grandchildren:  Chase, Madison, Logan, Eric and Amber; and a special pet:  Rex.  Mrs. Griner was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a sister, Margaret Bailey, and a brother, Richard Jarrell.

Graveside services will be 3 PM Monday, September 21, 2020 in the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dewey Shaffer and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at 1 PM Monday at the Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
