YEMASSEE: Mr. Edward Alton Searson of North Willis Street in Yemassee, died Monday morning in the Beaufort Memorial hospital.
Mr. Searson was born March 7, 1939 in Ridgeland, a son of the late Edward Lee "Eddie" Searson and Ida Mae Stanley Searson. Alton had served his Country and Community, serving in the National Guard, and in Law Enforcement for his entire career, serving as chief Deputy in both Colleton and Hampton Counties. He was a life long member of the Ridgeville Baptist Church, now the Family Bible Fellowship of Ridgeville and served as Church Treasurer.
Surviving are: His wife: Margaret Hill Searson; son Thomas Searson (Linda); daughters: Susan Laughlin (Ashley), and Laurie Moore (Roland); Eight grandchildren and a bunch of great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday in the Family Bible Fellowship of Ridgeville, conducted by Rev. Stuart Guthrie with burial in the Searson Cemetery directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin Saturday morning at the church beginning at 10 A.M. prior to the services.
