Mrs. Alma Marie Tuten Malphrus, 50, of Turner Expressway near Estill died Friday morning at her residence after an extended illness.

Mrs. Malphrus was born March 19, 1968 in Hampton County, a daughter of John Ellis Tuten and Ernestine Rosier Tuten.  She was a Pharmacy Technician and had worked for Hanna's Pharmacy in Estill for many years.  She had been a Girl Scout Troop Leader, soccer coach and grade mother for her children's school activities. She also enjoyed scrapbooking with her many friends and was a member of the Stafford Baptist Church.

Surviving besides her parents of Estill are:  her husband: Johnny Lawton Malphrus of Estill;  son:  Timothy Lawton Malphrus "Jessica" of Estill;  daughters:  Mindy Michelle Malphrus "Eric" of Ridgeland and Emily Elizabeth Malphrus of Estill;  brother:  John Ellis Tuten, Jr. of Estill;  sister:  Ernestine Richanna Tuten of Estill;  grandchildren:  Stephany, Abigale and Caroline Isham, Kassidy, Autumn and Briggs Malphrus;  and a number of nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Malphrus was predeceased by a nephew, Trevor Knowles.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday in the Stafford Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tim Minchey with burial in the Church cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 PM at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
