Albert Marcellus Loadholt, Jr.

Mr. Albert Marcellus Loadholt, Jr, 97, of Laurens Avenue in Fairfax, died early Tuesday morning in the Palmetto Health Hospital in Columbia.

Mr. Loadholt was born in Allendale County April 8, 1921, a son of the late Albert and Lillian Miller Loadholt, Sr.  He had retired from the Dupont / Savannah River Site as a Reactor Operator after 30 years of service.  He was a life-long member of the St. Nicholas Lutheran Church,  a member of the Lions Club and the Woodmen of the World.  He was a Veteran of World War II having landed at Normandy during the D-Day Invasion.

Surviving are:  his wife:  Catherine Atkinson Loadholt of Fairfax;  son:  Bert Loadholt and wife Liz of Varnville; and daughter:   Rebecca L. Adams of Irmo.  There are five grandchildren:  Beth L. Boatwright and husband P. J., Nancy Loadholt, Christopher Adams, Catie Loadholt and Ashley A. Russell and husband Adam.  There are 5 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Loadholt was predeceased by a son, Ricky Loadholt, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 3 PM Thursday in the St. Nicholas Lutheran Church, 235 St. Nicholas Church Road, Fairfax, conducted by Rev. Gary Loadholdt with burial in the Church Cemetery, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton.

Visitation will begin at 2 PM Thursday prior to services at the Church.

The family suggests that those who wish may send memorials to the St. Nicholas Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Ched Kearse, PO Box 138, Olar, SC 29843.
